NOTICE OF RACE
- This regatta will be governed by the 'rules' as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 2017 – 2020)
- Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.
- Eligibility and Conditions of Entry
- The regatta is open to all dinghies with a PY handicap.
- Competitors under the age of 18 at the time of the event are required to complete the parent/guardian consent form included on the entry form at time of registration
- Each boat shall hold adequate insurance which shall include third party indemnity of not less than £3 million for the duration of the regatta
- Attention is drawn to NoR 16 Risk Statement’ and the liability conditions on the entry form. These and other conditions of entry shall be accepted by completion and signature on the entry form.
- The entry fee for the regatta is £10

- On Sunday 25th no warning signal will be made after 14:00.
- Registration, certificates
- All entrants shall register at the registration desk located at SYC at the times stated in NoR 5. To complete registration entrants shall:
- Complete all relevant documentation as requested by the organising authority.
- Sign a completed entry form including a declaration that the boat is covered by appropriate third-party insurance as required by NoR 3.3
- Scrutineering, identification on sails, measurement
- Boats, equipment and sails may be subject to measurement checks, including weighing and check of hull corrector weights, at any time during the regatta at the discretion of the race or protest committee.
- A boat chartered or loaned for the event may declare at the time of entry or registration a sail number in contravention of her class rules. This number shall be displayed on all sails used in the regatta by that boat. In no circumstances will a boat be permitted to display the sail number of another boat that is racing.
- The number of crew and their names shall be declared at the time of registration. The number of crew shall not be changed.
- A member of the registered crew shall only be changed with the prior approval of the race committee.
- Sailing instructions
Sailing instructions will be available at registration.
- Course location, configuration
- Courses will be set in Seaburn Bay.
- See appendix A. Course to be sailed will be displayed on the committee boat. Races will be approximately 40 mins in length.
- A minimum of 3 races shall be completed to constitute the championship.
- The Low Points scoring system of Appendix A shall apply.
- When fewer than 4 races have been completed, no score shall be excluded.
- When from 4 to 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
- When 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores
- Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the organising authority and the class association.
- Risk Statement
Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.”
Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
- They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
- They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
- The accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
- Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
- The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
- The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.
- They are responsible for ensuring that their boat is equipped and seaworthy so as to be able to face extremes of weather; that there is a crew sufficient in number, experience and fitness to withstand such weather; and that the safety equipment is properly maintained, stowed and in date and is familiar to the crew.
The fact that the race committee conducts inspections of a boat does not reduce the responsibilities of each competitor set out in this notice of race.
As you can see (!) the new website is up and running. Hopefully you have had the opportunity to have a look around! If you have you may wish to take part in the quiz below for which there is a prize of champagne and chocolates donated by the site designer and builder.
In addition to the questions that have answers on the website you can also score points by pointing our mistakes or operational errors on the site (other than the known faults).
If you report any 'Faults' could they let us know as much as possible e.g. is it a phone (android, iphone, windows phone, blackberry), tablet (android or apple), laptop or PC. Also, if you know, which browser you are using. A screen shot of the problem can be useful if you know how to do that.

Oh dear - we appear to have hit a sandbar!
In going live on Monday 17th February 2014 we still have a few issues to resolve, some of which happenbed when we moved from the tested version hosted on a test site and onto the live version. We hope this does not spoil your enjoyment of the site and we are working to resolve these issues as soon as we can.
- The RSS Syndication Feed (the orange/brown symbol to the left of the search box on the home page) should appear on all pages and generate syndication of any page to Facebook (or any destination requested by an RSS Feed user). Currently due to a bug in the software the feed only appears on the home page. An alternative solution is being sought.
- (Resolved Tues 18/2/2014) Sadly, the slide show at the top of the home page appears as a set of frames down the page instead of the beautiful automatic and interactive slide show it should be. The problem has been identified and will be resolved asap.
- (Resolved Tues 18/2/2014) Due to the same related problem the tabs on the home page are displayed as headings and linear text and thus not quite as nice.
- If you have a Windows 8 tablet/Surface using Internet Explorer Mobile Version 10 then the main menu will appear but you will have difficulty accessing the sub-menus. Our apologies. This is a known Internet Explorer bug we are seeking to work around. In the meanwhile you can navigate round the site using:
- The site map (also accessible from the footer of the page) and
- Use the site search facility which is comprehensive.
